Learn it once, in both languages

You already hold a Portuguese category B (car) driving licence and you want to ride a motorcycle. To add category A you must pass a specific theory exam that covers motorcycle matters only.

This guide contains every known official exam question for that exam, with the correct answer, a short explanation, and the Portuguese original wording you will see on exam day.

Full category A through a category B licence requires the specific theory test (prova teórica específica) on motorcycle-specific matters (matéria específica de motociclos).

The test has 30 questions, lasts 30 minutes, and you pass with at most 3 wrong answers.

Questions come from the official IMT question bank, organised into 4 themes: Protective Equipment, Visibility Towards Other Road Users, Road Classification, and Vehicle Components.

The exam is taken in Portuguese. Train recognition of the Portuguese wording, not only the English or Russian meaning.

Chapter 1. Protective Equipment: 163 questions. Chapter 2. Visibility Towards Other Road Users: 276 questions. Chapter 3. Road Classification: 82 questions. Chapter 4. Vehicle Components: 150 questions.

Chapter 2 is by far the largest theme. Prioritise it when you study.

IMT publishes the official exam questions in public PDF releases but has never published an official answer key. The answers here were cross-checked against three independent sources: the official IMT question PDFs, the live bank of bomcondutor.pt, and the Testes de Código app database together with passarnocodigo.com.

476 questions appear in two independent sources and their answers agree in 99.8 percent of cases — treat these as high confidence. 195 questions come from a single source each; treat those answers as good but not double-confirmed.

Because no official answer key exists, no third-party guide can guarantee 100 percent accuracy.

Study one theme at a time. Cover the answer and test yourself question by question.

Say the answer in Portuguese using the “Resposta correta” line — on exam day you read Portuguese.

Watch for repeated patterns: many questions test the same rule from different angles (dipped beam at night, helmet standards, tyre tread depth).

Finish with timed practice: 30 random questions in 30 minutes with at most 3 errors.
